How Well Do You Know Your Friends?

This group game is played individually, but the points are for the group.

Preparation:
  • game organizer needs to prepare and ask some questions to different people beforehand
  • game organizer can ask the questions to players
  • game organizer can ask the questions to the people all players know
  • players can answer the questions, but they are not allowed to participate in the specific question where their answers are used
Teams and Groups:
  • Divide into 2 or more groups
  • Although the point is given to the group, everyone can speak up (ie, no group representative)
Rules and How-to:
  1. Everyone can answer multiple times for one question
  2. Whoever gives the correct answers the first time gains the point for their group
Examples:
  • X has been to 7 countries in his life. The countries are America, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and __________ (choose the least obvious one for people to guess)

  • This year, Y had a nightmare that woke him up in the middle of the night. He dreamt that he was chased by ___________

  • Every day, X will ___________ before she turns on the computer.
Additional Notes:
  • This game can be played as an ice-breaker as well.

Connect the Words

Preparation:
  • no preparation needed
  • no props needed
Teams and Groups:
  • this is an individual game; everyone is a group by themselves
  • this game is best played by a group of 5-10 people
Rules and How-to:
  1. let all players stand in one big circle
  2. decide who starts first by paper-rock-scissors
  3. the first player decides on what word to start with, and connect it to another related word
  4. the next player take the word from the last player to another related words
  5. words should not repeat
  6. go around the circle until somebody stumbles
  7. every turn takes 4 beats
    1 - 'previous word'
    2 - 'connects to'
    3 - 'related word'
    4 - thinking time
  8. there is no additional 'thinking time' (no pause)
  9. words do not need to rhyme; they only need to relate
Starting the Game:
  • one - two - three - four
    start with names, connect the words!
  • ps: you can use any phrase to introduce the start of the game
Example:
  • plates connect to food
  • food connects to pizza
  • pizza connects to hockey
  • hockey connects to skating
  • skating connects to ...
